I remember reading a book a few years which I'd like to read again but I've forgotten the name...

It was set hundreds of years in the future when man was able to travel to many different parts of the galaxy but there was no sign of alien life anywhere. In desperation, we artificially set off 3 supernovae in order to attract the attention of beings in other parts of galaxy and beyond.

Does anyone know the name?

can't help sorry.

BUT

if anyone can name the sci-fi book that has 'super duper pooper scooper' in, also I think they travelled faster than light be converting bodies to liquid and back again, I would be grateful!

It's at least 25 years old as I read it in my teens

No idea at all on the other one. Which is irritating as I had no idea on Redemption Ark in the other thread, despite having read it.

Sounds like Slow Lightning (AKA Infinity Beach) by Jack McDevitt.

Recommend you also check out The Engines of God by the same author - one of my favourite books.
