Batman (New 52) (#38 Spoilers)
Discussion
Anyone reading the current Batman main line ? End game ?
What do you think ? If you had told me their would be a main Batman arc where there was a possibility that the Joker was a centuries old immortal I would thought it was going to be nonsense. But Synder is pulling it off, his entire Batman run has been great. The whole Court of Owls thing, Death of the Family, Zero Year it's all been brilliant.
And now End Game, you know Batman is going to win, obviously. But this has to be the furthest he's ever been pushed, even if it's shown the Joker has somehow faked the whole immortality thing, this arc has pushed Batman to question everything he thinks he knows about the Joker. He's desperate, the final page of #38 shows just how desperate! Gotham is on it's knees, Batman is facing the possibility of an immortal Joker and he has to contend with a compromised Justice League. And all this after the events of Eternal.
I love that Synder isn't just treating the Joker like a joke, he writes the Joker as a completely unhinged psychopath. He now also knows who Batman is, how do you go back from this ?
And that ending to Issue #38! Holy
