Historical origins
Discussion
Don't know if this is relevant section but seems a good idea. I am interested in origins and historical references of traditional nursery rhymes and old songs and came across a snippet of one recently that I vaguely remember from childhood. Can anyone supply the full text (?), my memory fails:
Oh where, oh where, has my little dog gone
Oh where, oh where can he be?
da da da da da da (?)
da da da da da da (?)
Oh please bring my doggy to me.
A serious enquiry I promise, and any replies gratefully received!

Presumably sung to the tune of:
my bonnie lies over the ocean?

Or of course, it could be:
my oneskin lies over my twoskin,
my twoskin lies over my three..
