New fantasy 'epic'

Despite the somewhat disparaging title I've given I'm really enjoying the below. Yes there are some clunky bits, even allowing for a fantasy milieu, but by and large it rattles along at a good pace (looking at the Amazon scores there are a few 1* reviews so be warned it's not universally loved!). Personally (1/3 of the way through it's a 60/70%)
