Looking for a quick bit of info from those that have one. Been thinking of upgrading my current Kindle to a paperwhite as reading the reviews it seems better suited to night time reading whithout using a torch etc. (I currently have a cover for my current Kindle which has a pull out light at the top but its a bit heavy and cumbersome and thus not used). So does this solve the problem?

Really good legibility from bright sunlight to pitch black. Highly recommended.

Bought one in addition to an iPad, just for reading.

Think that a new version has just been / is about to be released.

Great just what I wanted to hear. Just looked and the standard new paperwhite is due for release 9th of October with 3G in November. Now this leaves a dilemma as Id really like one for going on holiday but its released when I am away.............alternatively its the current version.
Life's just not easy at times.

i have a normal kindle and the only thing I don't like about it is I can't read it in the dark. Otherwise, it's great to own, easy to read, long battery life (not sure how much the Paperwhite battery will last in comparison though), very easy (too easy?!) to download books by wifi, and very basic web browsing if you are desperate.

I can't really justify buying a new one yet, but a Paperwhite sounds like a brilliant development.

I use my paperwhite daily and easily 3 weeks, maybe 4 weeks from a charge.
I'd be lost without it - great piece of simple tech.

If you want one now, buy one!

I think the changes are a "better" screen and faster processor, but the current screen is excellent (perhaps a little bit of unevenness in lighting at the bottom) and the time to turn a page is completely acceptable.

Just a really good, functional simple device. One of my favourite "things".

That was my only slight concern reading the reviews that the whiteness of the screen was a little uneven, but hey you've convinced me, looks like the frivolous purchase thread is about to get another post.

I have had mine a month. Fabulous piece of kit. Exactly what it says on the packet.
My wife has a Sony that's nowhere near as friendly.
