I have amassed a number of 'classics' lately and although I want to read them all, it takes me a month to read a 300 page book these days. Which should I hit first, and why?

1) Jack Kerouac - On The Road
2) Anthony Burgess - A Clockwork Orange
3) J.D. Salinger - Catcher in the Rye

Cheers!

Hmm. How old are you?

I'd go with On The Road but you are likely to hate it if you're only reading a couple of pages at a time.

Mid-20's. I am a keen reader but new to novels if that makes sense. More of a non-fiction man looking to branch out.

Catcher in the rye has probably put more people off reading than any other novel.

I've only read A Clockwork Orange out of the three listed. The slang used by the main protagonists means you must read the whole novel in a short time so you can get into the flow.

All sound like a challenge! Just cracking on with some local history material and finishing Huxley's The Doors of Perception and I'll dig into them.

Thanks!
