Ah that's a shame. The rat books and The Fog were some of my favourites back when I was a teenager. Pretty tame these days but very 'X rated' back then.

RIP

Really enjoyed his books. Helped me pass the time when I was away at college in Huddersfield in the late 80's.

Always remember taking a book away with me and ringing my Gran up to tell her that I'd finished x and to get me another JH book or a Stephen King book from the mobile library that used to come down the street and I'd collect it when I was back at the weekend.

That's my favourite 2 horror writers dead, the other being Richard Laymon. I feel much the same now as I did in 2001 when I logged onto a Laymon message board to see the notice that he had died from a heart attack a few hours earlier  We did get another 3 books, from unfinished manuscripts that his daughter and friend, fellow author Dean Koontz found in his belongings.

Think I shall have to find my copy of Rats and have a read. Although I might buy them on the Kindle with all his books ranging from 59p upto £4 for his last book.

The scene in the school gymnasium in 'The Fog' doesn't seem particularly tame to me!
