Maybe Mons Kallentoft, another Swedish writer that was recommended to me. I have been given a copy of his 'Midwinter Sacrifice', but haven't got round to reading it yet. read

having started reading Henning Mankell's Wallender books, which I really enjoyed I moved to Jo Nesbo's books. I enjoyed the earlier books but found with the last one or two it was as if was writting with a film in mind, Holywood blockbuster no doubt. The story and murders got increasingly far fetched. I found Stieg Larsson's Dragon trilogy more gritty than Nesbo. Just my random thoughts, I guess I liked Mankell's Wallender the most. I'd be interested in other people's thoughts.

Nesbo has this fetish for the Marklin sniper rifle that appears in a few of his books. I remember researching the rifle and it didn't actually exist. I mean a 16mm bullet is a bit OTT. Harry has been pigeon Holed by me for now.

As above I've read a couple of the Salander books now.

They are either really well written in the first place or translated superbly.

Really enjoyed both of them.

On this recoendation I've read the first Enger book - Burned, but I found it a little thin compared to Larson or Mankell...

I’m binging on Jo Nesbø (Harry Hole) novels at present. Just on to “The Redeemer”.
Thoroughly enjoying them.
I did read slightly out of order as I started with “Devils Star” as that was the first released in English, should have checked doh.
