Gift Idea - Arty type

I'm looking at buying a friend a gift for their birthday. They are an arty type. Been looking at things like this.

Could be used for writing notes, Photos clippings from papers etc. Any other suggestions where get this sort of gift or other gift ideas along these lines?

Give her an empty box and tell her that it is for her to fill with new life experiences.

Thats the idea with journal. Its just cheaper than a nice box
