Anyone have 'children of men' in kindle format?
Discussion
I'm just writing an article on the use of literary devices, and I recall an appalling analagy that PD James uses in this book. It goes something like, the moon reflected of the wet slate roofs like (something about icing on a cake I think). There's another one about a starry sky being like a black cloth with lights behind, but I can't remember so much about the wording.
This might help you... http://www.ipadebooks1.com/235/OEBPS/part1.html
And I think you're after "The night was dark but not totally black; the half-moon reeled between the scudding clouds, the stars were high pin-pricks of half-formed constellations, the Milky Way was a smudge of light."
