The Driver - Alex Roy
Discussion
I've just finished reading The Driver written by the guy who drove the Team Polizi M5 in the gumballs etc.
If you're into your cars, then it's a must read! I know PH tend to take a dim view towards the gumballers; but having read this, Alex Roy isn't the typical playboy that the event attracts; it also focuses on his story of trying to break the coast - coast US speed record.
IMO it's pretty well written and gives a great insight into some of the nutters that enter these 'rally's' !

Thanks, not read that thread before and have now added a couple to the list. I also just finished Survival of the Quickest having read Bens thread in GG, was a pretty good read, once you get past the almost 'copy/paste' historic references! I hope he's planning on writing more as his current adventure looks to be epic!

I found it an enjoyable enough read (in fact, I believe I re-read it sometime last year) but a couple of points rankled with me.
Firstly where he was speaking as if Gumball drivers were professionals and on a par with circuit or rally drivers.
And secondly the attitude of "high speed road racing is dangerous but I know what I'm doing but others aren't so careful and shouldn't do what I'm doing". At least have the decency to admit you are being reckless but do it anyway because it is fun.
