Broken text on Kobo
Discussion
I bought a book (the phoenix on the sword) via the Kobo site tonight but it is almost impossible to read as the text is broken.
E.g
And he walked to the foot of th
e hill and looked up at the giga
ntic elephants slowly ascendi
ng the steep slopes.
I hope that shows how the text is coming out
I am finding it tedious to read due to this and was wondering if there is anything I can do to correct it, or is it worth mentioning to Kobo that the book they are selling is not compatible with their devices?

Not had a reply from them yet, it is a kobo glo that has been fine with every other book I have and the book is adobe drm.
I have tried adjusting the text and fonts but all it does is change where the words are broken, so it does not solve the problem.
Not sure what is on it but the kobo updated yesterday so should be on the latest firmware I would have thought.
Thanks for the reply, the book was only 70p but I want to read it

Now I have got home from work I have had a little play.
I don't know how "techy" you are but ePub format books are just zip files with a different extension. Change the file extension from "epub" to "zip" and windows will open it in Windows Explorer. Each chapter and other text you find in a book are held in separate html files displayable in any browser. Unfortunately each of these files is encrypted in a DRMed ebook. Fortunately the encryption was cracked a few years ago.
It really depends on how curious you are to find out why your particular book displays the way it does. I know I could waste hours just for the fun of it, but I've been in the computer business since 1975 and quite happily refer to myself as a techy geek.
