Looking for a cooler that actually works! Have a generic cool box and a piece of merde with a fan from a French supermarket - unhappy with both. Like the idea of a Makita powered one but £££! Probably can’t justify more than £200 tops. Volume not important as long as it can fit at least 12 330ml cans in it - bigger is fine as space not an issue. Claims of ‘keeps ice cold for 5 days’ etc. surely misleading as depends on outside ambient temperature surely? Suggestions?

If you want something that actually cools on 12v and doesn’t drain your battery too quickly you need a compressor coolbox. They’re not cheap mind. Have look at Alpicool. May just sneak into budget. Generally good reviews and the one I’ve got has been great. Only real issue is the temp setting isn’t terribly accurate but you get used to it

TREK are good

My advice is to ensure your beers are cold before you put them in the box and use a 2L bottle of frozen water as your block of ice instead of ice cubes.

Get it cold before use - we put loads of ice/water/drinks etc in it a day or so before we go, then swap it out with whatever we're taking with us just before we travel. Keep it out of the sun when away and if you can swap over ice blocks into it after a day or so.

5 days is pushing it without power mind - we've done 4 this way and it was still cool at the end but not ice cold, it would have been with another bag of ice in it though.
