Morning all
I bought a 2010 Chausson Flash 03 motorhome 6 years ago, on a transit chassis. It’s not been too bad, stuff failing-wise, a few leaks, cupboard handles, etc, but let’s face it, motorhomes are often a bit rickety.

Anyway, the fridge has totally died now - went from only working on gas to not working whatsoever.

Took it to a repair place near me (Sussex), they say it can’t be fixed and I need a new one. I’ve been quoted £2,130 for the fridge and £250 to fit it!!

That seems insanely expensive. I’m not sure of the exact model but it’s a Dometic. Is this right? Is that how much they are???

Any options? Help! I don’t want to pay £2,500 for a fridge I use maybe ten times a year…..

A quick google says they’re taking the piss. They’re as low as £200.

Yes I thought that…but it appears to have a 3-way fridge they are a bit special. But surely not £2,500 special!!!

What size is it and can you have 12v/24v only?

That does sound ridiculously expensive.
If you have solar and a reasonable Leila sure battery setup then I recommend you think about replacing it with a 12v compressor fridge.

They have gone up in price so the thing is if you want to replace like with like it will not be cheap but by getting the old on out and getting the part number or size you will easily get something cheaper to fit.

Also do not discount buying one from a caravan breaker as they do fit all sorts in vans and due to little use the van fails but the goods inside are fine

Yup, that’s a dometic 3 way fridge price! Look at Thetford models as they are about half the price and same sizes ;-)

Perhaps do some research on caravan/motorhome breakers and see if you can get a 2nd hand one?

Do you really need a built in fridge or do you have room for a standalone fridge? Is the fridge bare or does it hide behind matching cupboards and do you need it to match?

My sister has a motorhome and when their fridge died they chose a Waeco 48L drawer fridge to replace it for c.£850. They are on a 3 week trip and have borrowed my standalone Alpicool which was £500ish.
