VW roof struts

Hi all

We have a T5 LWB camper and it seems that one of the pop roof struts has failed. I need to get a pair of replacements but am struggling to find the exact type.

Ours are 1140mm and 450N, we can find 1055mm and 450N or 1140mm and 420N.

Which would you go for the slightly shorter but right pressure or right length and slightly lower pressure?

Alternatively any insight on where to buy without a 6 week lead time?

I would have thought this was difficult for anyone to answer without seeing your van.

Will the shorter struts allow the roof to fully open, or will the roof only open partway?

Was the roof easy to open with the two 450N struts? If so a pair of 420N struts would probably still be acceptable, but if the roof was difficult to open with 450N struts then best to avoid going any weaker.

I think a bit of Pythagoras is in order to work out the height difference a shorter strut would make.

I saw that site but couldn't see what I want so I have contacted them.

Quick update, SGS came through and can supply the exact length and strength. They were Very helpful.
