Haggling for campervan, up for 26.6k how much should haggle
Discussion
The way the camper / motorhome market is at the moment, I doubt whether he'd get that much off - there'll be a long queue of potential buyers.
I sold mine for 22k last summer and could have sold it ten times over. Looking at prices now, it'd be worth 25k minimum - it's a sellers market.
At least, that's what I think.

your right, prices have jumped. how much of a extra premium are you seeing on this years prices on your 25k motorhome. I sold mine for 22k last summer and could have sold it ten times over. Looking at prices now, it'd be worth 25k minimum - it's a sellers market.

I'll be honest, I'd offer £26k and be hopeful / grateful if they accept.
I'm trying to buy a Mercedes Marco Polo at the minute. Everyone I've seen that looks suitable has been removed from Autotrader after 1 or 2 days. Not even the cheaper end of the market, I'm talking £50 - 55k vans. They're selling like hot cakes.
Nothing has been local to me so when I enquire further afield, I get ignored or no call back as they know that they don't have to work to sell them. I have Autotrader notifications on and check on the Mercedes site every day and they are never on for long. I know I'll have to put a deposit down the minute one comes up that suits just to try and secure it before trying to get to see it in the flesh before fully committing.
If I had a camper to sell, I'd probably not give anything off. It will sell anyway. They could try £25k as an opening offer but be ready to keep the negotiating open (no final offer type talk).

I wonder how much they will drop, if and when things get back to normal, and people start going away again
Same for dogs, prices for them have also gone through the roof.

Small starter campervans will plumnet in 2 years due to market saturation/oversupply and people trying to sell the thing they used once and now want rid of.
Larger 4 berth plus size vans will gain value as people who bought a starter and liked the lifestyle want a bigger van.

Hi
My friend is seeing a campervan next week . It’s up for 26.5k the owner has said he is open to reasonable offers. Is there a general rule for haggling, is 2k below the price insulting….. same van in a dealership is around 28.5k
In the current market if I was advertising it at 26.5k I’d be wanting 26k. By all means offer less but be prepared to pay up to the asking price if you want it.
