Has anyone used a solar panel to keep the leisure battery trickle charged when the caravan's laid up? Experiences? Ideally I'd be looking at a little window mounted one (I know that cuts down efficiency) rather than roof mounted.

We need the mover to get the caravan out of storage so wanting to make sure that the battery is upto it without having to nip down there the week before and grab the battery to put on charge at home.

I'd only ever recommend having a healthily sized panel fitted to the roof through a regulator. As a minimum i'd aim for 60 to 80 watts.

Alternatively whip the battery out and invest in a quality trickle charge (CTEK et al).

Just done a weeks camping in a caravan using a 100w solar panel that was £103 from eBay. Kept leisure battery fully charged for a whole week being hammered by a family of 4.

I was genuinely expecting to be home by Wednesday.

Impressive. Got a link to the eBay seller?

I fitted a 120w jobby to my motorhome and it keeps the two leisure batteries and the car battery perfectly charged.
