Just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of An american RV with a recovery lift on the back end.

Is it legal for me to fit one to my dated RV. the chassis is strong enough for an under slung Spec lift such as fitted to the sliding bed recovery trucks.

Will I need to change it's use to recovery vehicle or can I stay legal by just using it. It is a better option than a tow car as I keep swapping towed cars, My camper is 6.2 tons and JUST under 7.5 ton with a car lift. I am fairly sure that with my licence I can go as high as 8,250kg on my licence. So weight is not an issue.

AFAIK spec lifts are only legal for recovery of a broken down vehicle, same as a towing dolly or unbraked A frame. Otherwise the towed vehicle is classed as a trailer & must conform to such regulations.
