We grill a lot on our go anywhere, it's not often I'll sit and do pulled pork largely due to Mrs being a white meat only eater and kids are a bit too small to enjoy some big meals.

So I'm looking at a grill I can take away in the caravan. The caravan oven/grill is ok but not great. I fancy electric as we always go on hook up and there seem to be lots of options from Outwell, George Foreman and Tefal. Ideally something that would do a good breakfast including an egg (non ribbed plate area), cook a pizza and maybe something that takes a curry or Bolognese.

I fancied the George Foreman outdoor but looks a bit limited. Some of the Tefal stuff seems to do more than one function but without legs. I could probably just get something to sit it on if it's just a grill.

Does anyone else have something other than a Cadac which ticks most of those boxes? If it's not possible then it looks like Cadac and gas is the way forward.

I'm afraid I can only comment on the Cadac but having bought one at the start of this season I wouldn't want to be without one now. I use it on the external gas point on my caravan so dead easy to set up. Has to be gas for me as whilst we do generally stay places with hook up I wouldn't want to rule out sites that are "off grid" for future trips.

As well as the barbecue feature I have the paella pan, great for doing stuff like stir fry, chilli, bolognese, etc., might even make a paella one day smile Also have the Braii plate which is great for doing breakfasts on, it's half griddle (sausages etc.), half flat (eggs).

Yeah it's a braai style plate, something to chuck a pizza on and a one pot option which draws me into the Cadac, I was just hoping there was an electric equivalent seeing as all my camping is now done on hook up. If by chance I go off grid then I've still got the Weber.

I have the braai plate but also use a wok on the pot stand for 1 pot bolognaise, chillis etc...

Cracking bit of kit especially abroad if you are on metered electricity like on an ACSI site in winter for example

You only need the paella pan. We do full cooked breakfasts on ours as well as evening meals (including paella!). It's ridiculously easy to clean and ours still looks brand new today.

I'm a Cadac convert, wish I'd done it sooner. I've seen a lot of electric teppanyaki grills in use though. Maybe this would be useful.

Just bringing this back up as I never bought one in the summer. I've been looking at them the last couple of weeks. The Cadac Carri chef looks big at 47cm but I'm wondering if the Cadac Grillo chef 2 at 36cm might be a bit small? We are a growing family (2 under 6 at present so 3 rather than 4 per meal) but see this as a bit of an investment. Anyone had similar dilemma? Carrying it in the caravan but weight and space is still a consideration.

I have a 7 yo and a 5yo and regularly fill the griddle on top of my carri chef. I have the half griddle/half flat plate, which is great.

I'd not go small if I were you.

There are just the 2 of us and I fill the CC2 when doing a fry up. Also if you are cooking different things its useful to have space to work with so that foods don't touch and mix flavours.

I had an external gas point fitted last year and love using it to cook outside - even on ski trips!

But I looked at Cadac and the alternatives and ended up with a CampingGaz version. It is perfect, better priced and IMO it actually packs better than the cadac.
