Shortly off via the Tunnel for a 6 day break in our Motorhome going straight to the V1/V2 Rocket factory, then planning on staying the first one or two nights at the excellent Le Touquet Aire.

There after heading towards the D-Day beach area, looking for recommendations for a nice coastal or picturesque Chateaux or river based campsite in or around that general area if anyone has any recommendations please.

Also suggestions for must visits in that area would be much appreciated incase we've over looked anything thank you.

We stayed at Camping Brevedent a couple of years ago. It is inland a little but is recommended by a few people on PH. We like Honfleur and Trouville Sur Mer to visit too. The Aire in Honfleur is very good basic site (we stayed there about 20 years ago, pre kids!)

We also stayed at Le Cormoran (near St Mere Eglise) which is right next to the Normandy beaches (10 yards). (Great for kids, but also good facilities). It is quite close to Utah beach which is expansive and thought provoking. The war memorial in Bayeaux is also very special.

I just wished we had visited Arromanches too, this is where my grandfather landed as a tank commander.

There are plenty of others around that location too.

There are dozens of campsites between Caen and Barfleur, either right on the coast or 3-4 miles inland. Of course in France there are a number of areas for campervans from town-centre car-parks (Bayeux has one) to supermarkets (one at Super-U outside Port-en-Bessin) to tourist car parks (one at the 360 museum overlooking Arromanches).

Most can be found on Google Maps.

I go to that area twice a year to visit family feel free to PM with any questions

Can recommend a site just outside Honfleur which itself is a lovely town also if you get the chance go to Deauville just down the road. Lovely old town.
