Switzerland campsite recommendations pls
Discussion
Off to Switzerland in our motorhome at some point in June, hoping to get a few recommendations for super picturesque campsites in or around the Lucerne / Interlarken / Grindelwald neck of the woods if possible, ideally right on the water or near to river etc?
We did a quick motoring tour around those parts many years ago & went close to camping Jungfrau which if I recall looked pretty nice with a mountain top waterfall near by?
The motorhome is quite large at 9.1mtrs long so ideally need to have reasonable road access & pitch sizes if possible!
Also any recommended stop over sites on route to break the journey up to & from not too far off the beaten track at all?

Thanks Bill, it was a spectacular area from what we saw on our visit & well placed for walking / rail connections too so suspect Jungfrau will get the nod unless any further info is forthcoming.
I take it the final approach route wasn't too tricky with your size of van?
Was the site lacking daylight at certain times of the day with the mountains blocking the light from getting through at all?
Not that it matters much but if you have it did the Sat TV work in the valley?

Camping Manor Farm on the edge of Lake Thun, a couple of kms out of Interlaken. On a regular bus route (free with the visitor card) into Interlaken for connections with trains to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.
An excellent site, if a little pricey, with good facilities.
Edit: awful website but you get the gist: http://www.manorfarm.ch/

We stayed at Camping Horw in Lucerne for a couple of nights, 2 years ago. It has direct lake access...

I wouldn't say its a particularly picturesque site but it's certainly not shabby.
One site I would recommend is in Lichtenstein...

Very picturesque setting amongst the mountains and a very nice, friendly site with a cracking restaurant. Pitches are on terraces and we got to choose our own.
We also stayed at Camping Bellinzona too...

Our pitch was very tight..we had to reverse in and it was exactly 8.7m in depth...which is the length of our MH. If you do stay here I'd recommend getting them to reserve you a pitch big enough for your MH

Lauterbrunnen is spectacular, we stayed in Camping Jungfrau.
I've camped here too. It's excellent, and yes the setting is spectacular. For stopovers I've used Camping Hautoreille at Bannes just outside Langres a few times. It's pleasant enough and Langres is worth a visit. This is in a car mind, not a MH so not sure how reachable it is in a day.

No problems getting in. You are in a valley, so the sun rises late and sets early. We don't have TV, so no idea.I take it the final approach route wasn't too tricky with your size of van?

If you're into that sort of thing there's a via ferrata in Murren that's pretty spectacular, as well as the more obvious Schilthorn walks and access to Grindelwald.
Thanks for this too.
We are looking at a fully winterised German MH at the moment and want to base it at Camping Jungfrau for the whole of the winter season, £1500 for October to April and use it as a ski base.
We love the Jungfrau region for Skiing hence the reason wanting a base there.

Bill just to say thank you very much for the tip to stay overnight at Mesnil St Pere, what a fab location & lucked into some stunning weather on both directions of the Journey.
Unfortunately just missed the opening of the rather swanky new restaurant over looking the lake by one day on the return leg, a must do on the next visit.
