Fancy a road trip back to Switzerland to see friends this or next month in our T5 Campervan with our 5 year old twins. Will get the tunnel so need a night or 2 stop over in France probably near Reims, Metz or Nancy so monkeys don't get too fed up with the drive.

Any recommendations for camping with elec hookup?

Don't forget that you'll need a vignette if using the Swiss Mways and also there may be a chance if you use a Swiss campsite that they have a different plug/socket arrangement to the standard Blue plugs (or indeed the the two pin variant found on some European campsites).

I can recommend an aire in Gerardmer in the Vosges area which could be the 2nd night of your trip...it's the first one on here and just off the centre of the town. Lovely town with a lake which you can hire electric boats or various pedalos to go on. They also have an old fashioned carousel too (depending on the age of the monkeys)...

If you do go head for the restaurant called Grizzly as they do this 20inch meat skewer man-food dish which is compulsory to have when in the area lick..

...and other food as well biggrin

We stop in an aire here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/5+Rue+du+Lac,+...

It's 4 hours from Calais and about 5 from the alps, and not far off the motorway. There's a campsite round the corner we've also used that has cheaper transit pitches if you really need power. It's by a lake with a beach and cafe etc so not a bad spot for a couple of days.

I seem to recall we stayed in Metz on the way back from Switzerland one year. They had a campsite (municipal I think) that we stayed in, but there was a car park next door that had MH facilities including hookup. Within easy walk of the shops and restaurants, we had a lovely meal and said we would go back and spend a bit more time there.

Other alternative is somewhere near Mulhouse and take a detour to visit the Schlumpf museum, but might eat in to your trip more than you want. Again we stopped off there on another trip back from Switzerland and it is a really great museum with a fascinating history.

Thanks for the suggestions, we actually ended up staying 2 night in Le Brabois at Villers Les Nancy on the way down, and 1 night there on the way back. Was a nice campsite, used manly as a 1 night stop over, but plenty of space, and lovely location with some lovely walks around. We booked it through Campéole website and was pretty straight forward. Would definitely recommend and use it again.
