Any Hymer owners here? Anyone got a camper in Europe?
Discussion
Just thought I'd ask, thinking of getting another Hymer, had one many years ago a B544 90's vintage one. They appear to be still be saught after & I wondered if anybody still has one. Currently have a well spec'd Bongo that I'd be looking to sell.
Obviously the older (Hymers) are quite old & retro but still well regarded apparently, would consider newer alternatives, but whatever I go for it will need full winter specs & would have to sell'able in the future etc. So that rules out many of the UK built ones I think.
Am also thinking about leaving it out in Europe, fly out & go from there type thing, does anybody do such a thing? Plenty of sites offering longer term storage just wondered if it was practical.

What were you thinking of doing about MOT?jk888 said:
If you go on to tents caravans and motorhomes there is a chap on there called Spuffington who has a Hymer, maybe give him a shout. I'm sure he'll help
That'll be me! I've got a 2001 BS640 which I bought earlier this year. A few teething problems but all now bedded down and loving it. I came from a 2002 Rimor Superbrig which was a complete bag of spanners and the difference between the two is night and day. I'd never not have a Hymer now, I reckon.
We've done one winter trip in Harry so far where it got down to c 3degs C and was perfectly warm enough. We're about to move into him for a month over Christmas and into the New Year with our three year old whilst the new house is being finished but I have no problem in doing so since it's comfy and very well built.
Whilst I know the 90's models are sought after, I prefer the 2000 shape such as ours. £20k would bag you a good one. Ours was a bit more, but bought from a Hymer dealer and was a one owner from new, 35k on the clock model with a few extras. Germany would be a good place to look but they're mainly on Fiat chassis, the ones I've seen. Which is not a deal breaker but I was looking for the W904.6 chassis Sprinter and I'm glad I held out for it - creamy smooth 5cylinder 2.7 which pulls like a train with its 163bhp.
Any questions, just ask!
Cheers for the info, I had a B544 (I think) briefly about 10 years ago sold it rather promptly when I was offered a profit
Quite keen on having one as long term euro traveller, would only ever be two of us or maybe a few lads for Le Mans etc.
I've been looking into winter specs & it appears the old Hymers are rather good at this aspect.
