Hi,

Looking for some recommendations for a coastal campsite that is suitable for the winter. I was originally considering Spain, but a few people I have spoken to have suggested heading to Portugal instead. I have the ACSI book but wondered if anyone on here had any suggestions, recommendations or experiences to share.

Thanks

We've been wintering in our caravan for the the last 5 winters and will be heading south again in 3 weeks time, heading for Spain. We have made friends with many people during our travels who have also wintered away for years. We always camp along the Med in Spain as the weather's generally warm, sunny and dry. We've heard over and over again that although Portugal is very nice the weather can be unpredictable, wet and windy due to the influence of the Atlantic. It appears as though the weather settles down in Portugal from April onwards.

Hi

Any chance that you could share some of the sites that you have stayed at and recommended?

We plan to do this when I retire in 2017

Cheers

Hi Graham

We’ve stayed on more than 30 sites now in both France and Spain most of which we selected from the ASCI sites guide or were recommended to us by friends or fellow travellers.

If you’re not familiar with ASCI it worth a look on line at this organisation, we’ve never been disappointed with the sites that they offer discounts for and as an added bonus they’re all in my Snooper Satnav as standard !

So Spanish campsites –

Camping Javea , approx 40 north of Benidorm
Camping Almafra, Benidorm
Camping Marjal Costa Blanca
Camping Torre De La Mora (Tarragona)
Camping Roquetas
Camping Torre Del Mar
Villanova Park
Bonterra Park
Camp La Bella Vista

Happy to help you if I can, just ask.

Colin

Have a look at this.

It will plan any route for a car or a Motorhome/ Car and caravan. You enter size information and it'll plan a suitable route.

What's snooper satnav? We're just about to head off on a 2 month trip around France and Spain, first time in a motorhome so any tips appreciated!
We live in Central France and it's starting to cool down now, you need to be heading to the south really and then cross into Spain. With your Motorhome you can stay on French Aires which are great for over nighting and they're everywhere.

Spain won't disappoint there's something for everyone, hundreds of sites, both along the coast and inland.
