It will never set the world alight as a drivers car but just returned from north Devon towing our caravan with my Hyundai Sante Fe. It's a 55 plate so the old version and a 2 litre diesel happily tows the van and will easily cruise at the legal speeds, although did loose momentum on some of the hills on the A303.
I have had it since new and its now done 102,000 miles of mainly trouble free motoring. The only issues have been glow plug failure preventing it starting easily in the cold, battery failure preventing it starting at all, and an engine management sensor with caused it to stall.
One criticism and I am not sure if its common to them all is the clutch is not keen on reversing with a heavy load on the back up hill. Have also managed to get it stuck in wet grass twice, suspect tahts partly a tyre issue though.

Volvo XC60?
mate tows with his and its very good.
Best towcar we had was an XC90 but its expensive to run and we needed 7 seats or else it would have been the XC60.

Funnily enough, I'm already thinking about our next 'mobile home' and am seriously taken with one of these trailer tents!

They look fantastic! The missus isn't keen, though
