Bipper/similar conversion or alternative?
Discussion
I work away a few days per week and would ideally like to have the flexibility of kipping in my own vehicle without the permanance of a caravan or similar (I have facilities at my workplace). I would also like to have whatever this vehicle would be as my daily driver and occasionally take it away to a camp site with facilities for el cheapo holiday/going walking etc.
I've seen a Peugeot Bipper conversion online that looked very smart, the advantages are its relatively small size, the fact it's cheap to buy/run/economical and I could have a (simple) conversion done that wouldn't cost the earth. What else is there similar? VW Caddy? Transit Connect? Both a little bigger but my main focus is running costs, I assume the Caddy would be pricier to buy but depreciation will be very good...
A bit of me just wants a Landie 110 with a mattress in the back but the running costs and mpg scare me...
15k all-in I reckon at a max.
Help me, PH!
Edit: Mazda Bongos seem to be plentiful... Any cop?

How about one of these:

Seem to be very well thought out and you can take it out your vehicle easily when not required.
Doesn't look like you need to make any permanent mods to the inside either which would help when the time come to move it on.
Rather than getting a van, I'd choose to pay a little extra for the car/mpv version, too.
Vans are little more than tin boxes while the car version would have rear windows and sound/heat insulation plus head lining.
£15k would probably get you a sorted VW T5 conversion but personally I'd go for a Nissan NV200 mpv, remove the rear seats and add the camper box when required. I'd also try and get one with a lift up back door to offer a bit of additional shelter.
The Nissan would cost much less than a T5 and would have done much less miles so you could spend what you save on at trip round Europe.

Thanks for your post, I think you're spot on there. That's an interesting site, thank you. I found Amdro boot conversions earlier, a very similar thing - this looks like the most sensible option on a Berlingo/similar a it does not damage the car, won't affect insurance/how it's registered and with an awning would make it rather habitable for camping.
Has anyone got an Amdro boot jump? They look like good value, relatively...
