My parents have recently purchased a motor home to travel round Europe for a couple of months at a time. What's the best gadget or tool you have ever come across camping/caravan in etc?

Would love to get them something useful that would serve a purpose.

Thanks!

Wireless reversing camera- if they have one it can hook up to a tablet (which potentially could also have sat nav and or loads of thier favorite songs hooked up to the stereo)- if they don't screens are cheap

We have bought a thermal cooker and its excellent for making curry, cakes, bread etc. We use it a lot at home to get a meal ready and then leave it cooking without any attention if we are busy. Its ideal for transporting hot food ready for the next stop too. And then it saves energy as well..... The food cooks for 3-4 hours and will stay hot for up to 8 hours if left sealed. Its perfect for using on ordinary trips out in the car too when you are going out for a day and can enjoy a hot home cooked meal whilst out.

Have a look at this link: http://mrdscookware.com

A device that blows air into the water system so when draining down for winter water is not left in pipes.

I've had to replace countless taps till now. Neighbour has also every year had blown pipes until now.

A passive dehumidifier for when its left parked up. Ours was kept on the drive so we also used an oil filled radiator to keep the damp out.
Maybe a decent BBQ like a Weber Go Anywhere or a Cadac?

Somewhere to park it, so it isn't stuck on their drive.

I would stick to wired cameras really.

Depends on how much you want to spend, a TomTom Camper is sub £300 or if you want something a little more "gifty" there are things like Aires / campsite guides, club memberships, Handbrake Extenders, Thermal Blinds, Dometic GasChecker (nice little gadget for checking how much gas you have left), some nice melamine plates / crockery etc

If they're likely do wild camping in France, then a shotgun might be useful. Relative stopped at a motorway aire in SoF and whilst they were asleep a bullet came through the side of their M/H and out the other side, two feet above their heads. Police had no explanation but warned them to stick to proper sites

A thermal cooker is an excellent device. I've had one for a few years and wouldn't be without it.

Tool-wise, a Leatherman multi-tool thing. I keep one in my motorhome and it's proved so damn handy time after time.

As a recent 'newbie' to motorhoming (been camping for years though), probably the two best investments have been an exterior 'SilverScreen' which prevents condensation on the inside glass plus makes the interior a bit better looking without the flappy curtain and a 'Lotus Grill' barbeque, which although expensive is a really excellent bit of kit. Charcoal powered and ready to start cooking on in about 5 minutes.

A relatively new motorhomer here too (well, VW Transporter) and our best purchase so far has been the Cadac Safari Chef. Five different cooking surfaces to cook al fresco and we've recently added to it by buying the pizza stone which is amazing.

Definitely, love ours, used it a lot when away.

Also a small folding trolley for carting the toilet cassette around.

Really liking the idea of one of those thermal cookers for my camping setup!
Incredibly frustrating to get to the campsite, find its wet and miserable and you have to cook.

the idea of cooking your dinner while you drive to the site and then just easting a nice hot meal is very appealing!

+ 1 for the multi tool.
