Groundsheets outside with no awning

I've seen a few of these recently where people haven't erected an awing, but still just have a groundsheet outside their van.
I can obviously see the benefits of having a clean area outside the front door, I just wondered what sort of fabric these things might be as they're obviously exposed to the elements.
