Motor home water supply

On a motorhome pitch if it it's fully serviced with water supply do you just leave it connected so it permanently fills up as you use it ?

If your van has the ability.

Most just have a cap you remove and you stick a hose in until it overflows so you can't leave attached.

At the last place we stayed with a fully serviced pitch I ended up filling the tank on the day we arrived and then ended up emptying 80% of it before we left as we'd barely used any. Vowed never to pay a hugely inflated price for a fully serviced pitch ever again. Also couldn't drop grey waste as there was just a little drain in the corner of the pitch and because I didn't have a waste hosepipe with me, I couldn't use it.

A good 20quid wasted.
