Hi all we have just acquired for rebuild a 1983 Cosalt clubman 414 caravan 4 berth.
We are seasoned campers but have been thinking this might be better with our growing family as it provides a bit more comfort and security and weatherproofing.
It does need some work , it has the inevitably leaky skylight which has been bodged several times by the looks including being wallpapered with ghastly anaglypta. This has led to the ceiling boards needing replacing as they have a small hole and begun to de-laminate. I will start cutting them out tomorrow and see what is underneath.
The van is a good layout for us and has basic accommodation with 3 way fridge gas hob and grill and carver gas heater but no water heater or shower we have looked and thought about fitting one but think that it may be too costly?
Any tips for replacing the rooflight and vent?
Any tips for cutting out the roof boards?
Any easy/budget solutions for hot water?
easy way to build a shower enclosure?

We have decided to do an update and refresh of the interior with led lighting and some bright fabrics to cheer it up.
It has electric hook up fitted and I have a gas fitter to check over the appliances. I will replace all tyres on date rather than wear, the chassis is and Alko and is in good condition and the brakes all release and work ok.
At the end of the day it cost nothing and we will spend maybe £500 refreshing it , we may well end up taking it to my wife`s parents place in Brittany and leaving it there for our use when we go over.

Can I suggest you have a browse through this section of UkCampsite, it's a great forum and always has plenty of people with knowledge and pointers to the sort of task you intend to take on.
