Mh Battery chargers

I seem to have fried my onboard batt charger on swift Motorhome . A new one the same is stupid money but seem to be plenty advertised as suitable for much less .
Only problem is the original has a Third wire connection on the output . A thinner wire but I don't know what this does . All the wires dissapear into a loom so not easy to check ,
Any ideas ??

If your battery is a sealed type then have a look here:

No connection to them but a very happy customer.

The third wire is most likly to be a cut off - ie. when plug in what ever you are charging will not work, but I'm not sure how that would work in a motorhome!

Having now researched the matter I still have no idea what the third wire does, but as the system has an electronic control panel I think it is a fair bet that to replace the charger with anything other than the original model would be pretty stupid !
Apparently the company that supplied them has now gone bust....but I have now found some reconned units for a much better price (on Ebay) so I've ordered one of those..

Don't know if this is applicable but there is normally a temperature sender wire from your battery bay back to the charger which will stop it charging if it detects overheating.
