HELP

I have just replaced a company run 2010 C Class Sport Estate W204 with a 2012 Auto model.
The detachable tow bar cost me a fortune a couple of years ago, so want to re-use on my new W204.
The tow bar references are all current for the new car

None of the local fitters are interested, they just want to sell me a new bar for £500
Citing insurance and liability etc.

Looked at it, and it can't be too hard to do it myself can it?

Is there anything I should know ? ? ?

Questions:

The electrical interfaces look identical on both cars, but the newer model has LED's
Is that going to be a problem using the existing PCT universal relay box (2500)?

Will anything need programming by Mercedes?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Can't help on practicality, but I've had towbars refitted in this way. Someone will do it.

In fact looking at your location have a chat with this guy - http://www.kh-towbars.co.uk/

Yes decided exactly that, just waiting for some extended sockets off ebay to get at the long bumper studs.
Looks a stupid arrangement but sure there will be a reason for it.

Then, will either get the guy Surveyor recommended for the electrics (thanks), or buy a new plug-in model specific kit and do that myself too.

Cheers guys

Did mechanicals and electrics myself over the weekend.
Apart from rusted hard to get to bolts over the exhaust, a piece of p#ss.
Took about 5 hours for donor vehicle and new

Rear bumper was a better fit on both cars, than the job the pro did !

Well happy
