As some of you may know, I occasionally do tests/ reviews of motorhomes and caravans for other mags.

Just received an email telling me my next test wagon is this. Naturally I'm rather looking forward to it biggrin

I'm guessing that's some sort of protective layer on the front corners outside? I can't say it looks particularly cosy inside either, and £67k?? Lordy!

I was wondering about the cosiness. Will be away in the next few weeks so I wonder if the interior is as cold as it looks.

Still, I look forward to it (and the new Range Rover I'll be dragging it with)

I'm sure you'll manage to suffer bravely wink It does look a bit like roughing it though.

Sure will!

Hopefully I'll be away in the next few weeks, towing with a Cayenne Turbo.

Looking at other tests of the Airstream they all seem to use the latest RR, so while that is a great towcar I want to offer something different.

The aim of this test is to make it appeal to non-caravanners, so we need to be as 'sexy' and 'luxury' as possible while also appealing to the traditional market who like reading aspirational content from time to time.

We too at Pistonheads are aspirational. Won't something like this do?

I'm sure you'll find someone to lend you something similar. A Rover P5 would be exactly the thing.

I really struggle with the prices of the Airstream. While they are perhaps a little cooler, I'm not convinced their traditional shape gives them any advancement on the modern streamlined caravan.. As a starter where do the gas bottles go? As far as I can work out exposed stuck on the front.

I think I'd save me cash and buy the equivalent one for half the cost.

Don't forget to review it on here Paul!

Certainly will, it's going to be a hard test as I'm sure the van be luxurious and indulgent (I'm taking a girl who has never been in a caravan before, so it'll only be downhill from here if we go away in anything else in future) but I have to justify that £67k asking price every step of the way.

When a £15k Bailey does everything so well (from a practicality POV as well as comfort) it's going to have to be VERY special.

£67k WOW. Not sure I could justify that for a caravan tbh. I wait with baited breath for the review.

67K is an incredible amount of money when you consider you can import a lovely original one, refurb it to your specification and then of course change your car in order to tow it.. for less...

I, for one, am massively jealous. Cayenne Turbo is just about my fav commuting car (possibly vs the ML63) but an Airstream is the coolest way to camp - bar none..!!

Although, if it were my money I'd buy an Eterniti Genesis BB5 and enjoy both the extra space and cash in my pocket, but that's not the point. Turn up with a Cayenne in front of an Airstream and you win King of the campsite..!!

A couple of other solutions. For the vertically challenged:-

And for Airstream-type lovers who want to do it properly:-

And for the real afficionado:-

£67k yikes
MTPLM 2680kg yikesyikes

Its going to be hard to justify it IMO when something like an Elddis Crusader is 1/3 of the price.
Yes its cool but so is a 1960's VW Campervan but its slow, noisey and rusts like nothing else.

Caravan loan delayed so still standing by...

Cayenne not possible (Porsche don't have a car with a 'bar) so I'm using a G350

Well my W164 ML320 can legally tow 3500KG, and I've pulled some hefty kit with it with ease. I imagine the "harder" brother of the family (the G350) will pull the Airstream without sweating.
