Kampa inflatable awnings, any good?
Discussion
Hi all first post,
I have a Kampa Travel Pod Air for my T5 VW Camper and it is awesome, night and day from my previous standard type.
Shame your a long way or you would be welcome to see it in action.
If you are heading into London at anytime i'm off J5 M1.
Alternatively you could give me a bell to discuss.
Cheers,
Keith.

Sounds great, but £700!?!?!?! Thats a lot of money for an awning!I have a Kampa Travel Pod Air for my T5 VW Camper and it is awesome, night and day from my previous standard type.

we put ours up last year initially for a weekend and ended up leaving the van on site with the awning up for 6 weeks. Only needed the odd extra pump. Fantastic bit of kit, one of the best things we bought for our set-up.
Yes, its expensive for a weekend awning but in terms of making life easier worth it.

We needed a new awning last year and compared several, the two we came down to, the Kampa inflatable and the conventional type. We chose the conventional type because the huge price difference(£300) couldn't really be justified. We reasoned that the only time saved was inserting poles against blowing it up. You still have to layout, thread onto van and peg out with both types, so there was very little time saving - the main selling point. You have no topping up with air, repairs if punctured and fiddling around with pump etc. We are very pleased with our choice.

Thank you, you have confirmed my doubts. I saw one at a campsite in the Lakes last summer and spoke with te owner who invited me to have a good look at it, he was very impressed with how easy it was to erect, and I was impressed by how rigid it was compered to my similar pole style awning.
Anyway I have ordered the 2014 version which I am currently waiting to be delivered.
I am hoping it will minimise the marital stress often experienced putting up the existing awning.
