Interesting base for a V8 campervan
Discussion
I've been following this LDV 400 3.5t LWB Hi-top on ebay.

It looks to be fairly sound, low miles, decent provenance and an Edelbrock manifold & carb has been fitted fairly recently too.
I was going to have a bid with the plan to convert it to a camper, but it's gone over what I was prepared to pay just at the moment, although I've been on the look out for an LDV V8 for a few years. I think I'll wait for a last of the line Convoy V8 to appear (this is not a Convoy despite what the ad says) rather than a 400 V8.
Anyone tempted by it?

My old man spent many years working as an Engineer for LDV, back in the late 80's he had a few Police V8 Sherpas back in to the factory to beef up the rear step, original spec couldn't cope with the repeated weight of tooled-up coppers in riot gear having had one too many doughnuts! Obviously after doing the work they had to "road test" them, usually involving waiting for a mate to unknowingly drive out of the factory gates, then hitting warp-speed (for a transit) with the blues & twos going to "nick" them!
