12V Mains cooler box
Discussion
I was just wondering if we could talk boring stuff just for a minute. I have had to replace two 28lts 12V / Mains cooler boxes this summer both were made from "Campingaz" they cost £65.It may have been due to the extreme heat we have had this summer that burnt the motors out on both we had. I am now back to buying another one now and don't want the same make they refunded me my money no problem.
I was wondering what make and model you are using and can recommend cheers

Halfords do them. I've used a electric coolbox as a supplementary fridge at Le Mans and on a family camping trip. Works really well at keeping things cool.
As a tip, we froze some ice packs in the caravan freezer compartment of the fridge and rotated those through the coolbox - 2 in, 2 out every morning/evening. Made a heck of a difference to the amount the motor was working.

I've got one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Waeco-Mobicool-camping-por...
Fantastic and very useful to run off the mains to get cold before taking out to the car.

What are you running them off? Personally I would consider a portable fridge offering the options of mains electric, 12V or gas.
I am running them off 12v lorry and portable generator and mains in the house before we use it.We use the cooler box on car race weekends where we have to supply small amounts of food ie hotdogs, bacon egg sarnies etc. For up to seven people. I will check out portable fridge as I have never come across one of those thought that's what a cooler box was LOL GlenMH said:

This is the sort of item I was referring to, more expensive than a cool box but much more effective and has the ability to use a variety of energy sources. On the lowest setting on a cool day mine will freeze beer!
Just realised I forgot to post the link! So here we are: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/waeco-3-way-cooling-45...I suspect that Tristar may be an own brand version of the Dometic fridge.
I have one of these. It's a fridge - has a proper compressor to run off the mains as well as a peltier fan for 12V.

Peltier fans can only cool to a number of degrees below ambient. A compressor can be set to a specific temp regardless of ambient.
Bit more expensive but I use it a lot.
