Berlingo vs Doblo vs Partner vs Bongo vs Kangoo vs ?
Discussion
Firstly, I'm a cheapskate hence the cheap cheap cheap options.
Looking at ~1k to spend on a cheap practical vehicle that can be used for slinging assembled bikes in the back of, drive somewhere for a weekend and lay out something in the back of to sleep on. Ideally there would be the future potential to hook up the rear to a driveaway awning of some sort (ex army 9x9 maybe?)
so.. the frenchies are much of a muchness. Anything to be aware of?
the doblo.. harder to find, decent engines
the bongo.. horrible mpg, better camper.
Any other options to consider?

Maxi.. mm another classic is tempting but egads no
Seems impossible to get a non-shed for a grand so I'm back to deciding whether to get something acceptable for more like 1300 vs giving up on the idea of a easy bike van / camper and getting another puma (replacing what was written off)

I think for a bongo youd be looking 3k minimum and at that price it's going to be pretty ropey.Seems impossible to get a non-shed for a grand so I'm back to deciding whether to get something acceptable for more like 1300 vs giving up on the idea of a easy bike van / camper and getting another puma (replacing what was written off)
Also bear in mind there old so you'd be better off getting one for 5k with s load of service history, proof of bits being replaced.
Not quite along the same lines, but I am currently looking at a Peugeot Partner Combi as I need a car that doubles as a van.
I have been advised that the HDi is the engine of choice rather than the rattly old 1900 Diesel.
Going to look at a 53 plate "Escapade" this week which I hope to pick up for £1750-ish.
