British Army artic sleeping bags

Are these any good?
I'm going to a beer festival next weekend and cannot be bothered with a tent so looking for a decent sleeping bag that I can just crash on a groundsheet with
I see you can buy a bivvi bag for them to make them waterproof - are they worth the extra money?
If not, any other bags that are cheap but warm/hard wearing?

It doesn't matter if you are in an arctic bag (I have a cold weather issued bag), if you are on the floor you will feel it something rotten. You need to elevate yourself, camp-cot or the like and insulate yourself witha rollmat from the bed.
Saying that, beer will warm you up a little, until you wet yourself.

£200 for that? Unless you go for a hooped bivi then if there's any possibility of rain then don't bother - you'll struggle to keep your face dry. And some sort of mat is essential in any case - personally I rate Alpkit mats.
Just bite the bullet and pick up a cheap tent, if you're bothered about weight etc you can get a 2 man tent (so room to dump your gear and dress) that weigh 1.6kg for £110.

I'd definately go for a lightweight tent instead.

I've used an arctic sleeping bag in the Arctic when I did my Arctic survival course. I also used it in the UK and sweated my nads off in it in a mild Winter. They are good but overkill for what you want it for. Besides, you need a groundmat. A cheap bag and pop up tent from Go Outdoors would be perfectly adequate.
