Got myself a tent, and a 7 year old son who has never experienced camping. He's keen to get out there with me though. And the MX5 is ready.
Could anyone recommend any good places/sites near Bedford/Milton Keynes, and around the Ipswich/Woodbridge area in Suffolk for when we visit my folks?

Have you thought of checking out events at Snetterton and combining your camping trip with a day watching Motorsport, camp at the circuit.

I was here last weekend, lovely spot, nice and quiet and pub nearby smile

If you go, try to get in the top field by the cabins, less busy than the main field as people don't seem to realise you can use it!

Top End Farm, Little Staughton (just north of Bedford).

Big, flat field. £15 per night with hookup. Play area & skate ramp. Fish & Chip van on a Saturday evening.

That Swattesfield Farm looks nice, might try that myself.

We stayed here last year : http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revi... I did a review on there which I think is fair and honest. Good site, bit tired around the edges (shower/toilet blocks etc.) tacked on to the back of a farm, but some stunning scenery and reasonably conveniently located.

Now that sounds good as despite all my efforts my lad likes animals first and then cars. Wrong way around i think but he will enjoy that. Cheers.

Emberton Park in Olney is a great place to go with little ones. You have a huge country park with lots of kids parks, lakes etc, and Olney itself is only a 10 minute walk for food/pubs etc. Highly recommended

We've stayed at this nice site in Rendlesham Forest, near Butley.

Also, as mentioned above Southwold campsite is nice.

Just near Banbury if you don't a bit of a drive out try Anita's http://www.anitascaravanandcottages.co.uk/ camping. Bakery in the morning for some warm cakes ( breakfast pie never tasted so good) and clean facilities. Some of the tent area is a bit uneven but overall, camping site as they should be.
