What's' the furthest you have gone and then realised you have forgot an essential bit of kit ?

I got from Lincolnshire to the Dordogne in France went for the tent no poles still in the bloody loft.

Anybody want to buy a tent used once?

Got down to a site near Bordeaux from home only to find I'd left the legs for my gas BBQ at home, I'd taken them out thinking they were a foldaway camping chair that I wouldn't need.
Fortunately we were meeting some friends who were at the end of their holiday who had the same BBQ as us so we were able to borrow theirs for the remainder of our tour.

I have managed to leave the tent poles at home before. Fortunately only gone from Sussex to Buckingham but delibrately arrived in Buckingham early so the tent could be erected and our 18 month old daughter out to bed at her usual time.

Didnt have to drive home or buy a new tent as Brother in Law was coming up as well, in a camper van. He hadn't left Kent so got him to check his old tent in the camper. Daughter just went to sleep in her pram in the oped instead of in a tent!

Tent poles too, got to our campsite near Le Mans last year. Our little boy was 6 months old at the time; peeing down with rain, he'd been crying the last hour and a half of the journey. Told the Mrs to keep him happy in the car in the dry and just give me a hand at critical points. Tent unrolled and soaked within seconds. To find the poles missing!

Luckily the site has Bengali tents, so we had one of them the first night, then bought a pop-up from Decathlon. Handily, our existing extension fitted that, so we had a bit more room. Managed to sell the pop-up the week we got back for a profit smile

Forgot our "upstairs" safety net for the camper last weekend so the kids had to sleep downstairs. Oops.
