How to clean tents

One of my inner tent pod things is manky. And stinks, how and what do I clean it with. Am presuming probably not the washing machine?
Check the label but if it's just the inner it may well be machine washable.Failing that disinfectant kitchen wipes worked for the odd spot of mould.
We cleaned our tent a few weeks ago. First trip out of the season and the tent was horrible, stinky and suffering with mildew so we had to clean the whole thing including the bedroom pods. We used Grangers tent cleaner. You wet the fabric/canvas with water, scrub on the diluted solution and scrub off again with clean water. It cleans, proofs and protects against mildew. It worked really well and has eliminated the odour of the mildew.
I borrowed a tent I thought I'd ruined after waiting a week to air it out after all the rain at the formula 1 in Silverstone last year.
I got a big plastic storage box, filled it with water, dropped a couple of Milton sterilising tablets in, left it for a few days soaking in the garden and it got rid of the evidence of mildew and smelt as good as new!!

Great tips thanks! Job for Tuesday. Just got back from snetterton and had to pack away after it rained so will need an epic afternoon clean job.
Tents go mouldy pretty quick if they are packed away wet. I'd get it back up in the garden asap (assuming you have the space). Let it air out and dry off then go about cleaning it.My tent is still going strong after 10 years including 7 glastonbury trips and a number of other festivals. I just make sure it gets a good airing after every outing and never had any mould.
