Mid summer lull?
Discussion
Traditionally the mid summer months equals a lull in sales for us in the leisure industry as everybodys dealt and fked off on holiday, then it picks up in september again when people return realising they want a different van.
Anyway,no posts since thursday so guess the sames happened to this forum, where is everybody?
Is there a secret pistonheads campsite somewhere?
Fwiw im in a lovely Bessacarr 560 i half inched from work for the night!

The 560 was a good blag
I've got a brand new caravan which in 8 weeks of ownership has been in the dealers for 5 of those on 2 separate occasions. Wish I'd never bothered to be honest.
Anyone who as the misfortune to walk through the gates of a large caravan dealer just off the A1 in North Yorkshire.....turn on your heels and go elsewhere. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced, anywhere period. Appalled.

Well, I'm away in the 'van for a week. Away at the moment. Have to go back home for the little un's 16th. Take him and the extended family out for a slap up meal, then back on the road for 12 lazy days in Arisaig.
Not much chance of me visiting caravan shops at the moment, unless something breaks.

We're hoping to grab 3 or 4 days next week in ours , been difficult to find time with sons wedding preparations and work to fit around, but then that's the beauty of a motorhome , just jump in and sod off
Not expecting to visit our local dealership tho' unless there's something I don't know about !

We got back from our 2 week trip to France, last week, we (Mrs P and two youngsters) stayed on campsites, but cheated really. We saved on fuel and time and stayed in readily available "mobilomes" or cabins. We did 1 week Port Grimaud, 3 days in near Orange/Carpentras at a campsite in a vineyard, and 3 nights by the lake in Annecy.
We've still got a couple of tent trips planned in the UK this summer - 4 nights at Camp Bestival later in July and some other weekends out if the weather stays nice.
In fact that reminds me - I need to add to the St Tropez thread, as our trip to Port Grimaud and Praries De La Mer was really good.

Well we pick up a (new to us) motorhome on Monday. T.E.C. RoTec 652G. '12' reg with just over 3500 miles.
Well we've picked it up, after a lengthy handover, almost straight away parked it up in storage! Hoping to get some stuff packd into it this week and have a trial over nighter at the weekend. chopper602 said:

Hope you enjoy it, during your first couple of trips you'll develop strategies to stop stuff rattling while your on the road. There are no rules or guidelines for this, but do take plenty of tea towels to use as dampers!

As soon as I got it home I attacked my stash of microfibre towels - the grill pan has one wrapped inside & under it. One was used to get the muck of my hands after putting the wheel clamp on (copious amounts of f*cking tyre shine) and the third can be used for cleaning the windows! Looking to go somewhere fairly local on Saturday, but have no idea where yet !
We discovered a couple of things on ours.
The main, well only real rattle came from the table (extension slides out from underneath) so a cheapo sprung scissor clamp comes in handy to hold both parts solid and silent.
And after its service last year the tyres had been pumped up stupidly hard imo @ 85psi making the ride very 'crashy' . Now running at about 55 psi and ride is much, much better .
Main thing we keep forgetting before moving on is the cooker/hob cover which drops down with a loud bang on the first rh corner. Not good for my heart rate or the cover I should imagine !
AND when stuck in a traffic jam knowing there is a loo only 10ft behind you makes you want to go more than ever, however sods law dictates that as soon as you make a break for it the traffic will move on causing much blowing of horns etc
Enjoy !

Well, I've been back to celebrate the youngest's 16th birthday. His favourite present was the Hunter fob watch his Uncle gave him. Not much chance of me visiting caravan shops at the moment, unless something breaks.
I had to drop in to Kwikfit to have a new centre exhaust fitted. Typical! That was an expensive meal! 9 people and a Volvo exhaust.
Anyway, I'm back up north in the 'van till Sunday, then back at the house for a day to restock and then up north to Arisaig.

The motorhome was great, really enjoyed the luxury of having a fridge, grill, oven and hot & cold running water! Managed to get rid of rattles and it all seems good so far. It's a bit of a pain draining the fresh, grey & boiler water before storing again but has to be done !There are no rules or guidelines for this, but do take plenty of tea towels to use as dampers!
