What model civic is it? I seem to remember that most trailer tents are underv800kg so I would have thought you would be ok.
As for damp, we never had any in our tents even with crappy weather (poly cotton design) so I would have thought trailer tents of the same material should be ok?

The trailer tent.
All of the disadvantages of towing, but yet with few of the advantages of a Caravan.
I've often said that too, and been torn a new bumhole on here for saying so.All of the disadvantages of towing, but yet with few of the advantages of a Caravan.
As you say, the disadvantages of a caravan with none of the advantages, and the disadvantages of a tent with none of the advantages.
I like camping and I like caravanning, but a trailer tent? I just don't get them
Folders are quite good; we had one and towed it with our Rover 45 Tdi. Apart from wanting to eventually return to caravans, the only reason we moved on after one season was that we would have been unable to put it up again after arriving home with it damp. We have a large drive but had no facility to erect it to dry it out due to my still working at the time, and a car in the garage which needed to come out.
Now that we are both retired, it could be done but we are now back on our 3rd caravan. (we had 'vans years ago but a long break)
The folders are really well equipped now. Ours was a Pennine Pathfinder, and apart from a shower and deep upholstery was as equipped as, and not much smaller than, our present caravan. The point of the folders compared with the caravans which is good is that due to the beds folding out, the actual footprint of the floor area is much the same.
So if you like the idea of a unit easy to tow but keeps you 'off the ground' the folder is a good option.
(sorry mods, gone a bit O/T)
