Camping Portable Toilet
Discussion
Considering taking kids camping, so this is one of about a hundred 'what?' posts.
I'll be taking my 6&8yo kids by myself, only logistical issue I can see is using toilet at night/evening. I wouldnt feel comfortable them going by themselves and woldnt want to leave one or both (if I went) in tents alone. So, are there any decent portable toilets I could take for emergencies, leave in the back of the van for late night or early morning wazz?
Apologies for this and the other posts but search engine is down once again

We use one of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001TQ5KC2/ref=asc_df_B...
it is only used for pising in at night time, if the kids need a st then a trudge to the toilet block in done. We don't bother with the chemical liquid, instead we put a strong pedal-bin bag in the bowl, then put in a few handfulls of pine scented wood pellet cat litter. In the morning we just tie the bag up and chuck it in the skips. Our tent does have a special toilet compartment though.

I see, sounds like a good idea and less mess, what tent has a toilet compartment, I like the sound of that? Does it have a handy storage pocket for a copy of What Mountain Bike?http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001TQ5KC2/ref=asc_df_B...

Two types of choices....
Bucket and chuck it - Kamping Khazi, luggable loo type thing - either fill it with a big with cat litter or similar or just stick some zoflora in the bottom to make it smell nice then take it to the bogs in the morning and tip it away
OR a Chemical loo (porta loo) - Lidl have one on special this week, it's a rebranded Thetford model and is a really good buy but it'll be there for this week only (check your local Lidl for the dates).
Bucket and chuck it is fine just for overnight pee's, with a porta loo you can't see what others have done before you so it's a bit more pleasant to use!

I would recommend one of these with the chemicals. Honestly, it is no fuss, the blue chemical that goes in the collection tank takes the odour away. To empty just tip it down the chemical lav disposal point. There is no smell.
