Sleeping Bags

I am in the market for a new sleeping bag, something 4 to 5 season. The two I have narrowed it down to are the alpkit skyehigh 800 or the snugpak elite 5 but I was wondering if I have missed any others so I thought I would ask on here.

The Alpkit gets my vote - heard very good things about them, though if you're looking at up to 5 season I'd be tempted to look at the Skyhigh 1000, particularly as they're on a price drop at the moment prior to shifting to duck down.

Quite tempted to get one myself.

When does it occur?! That unexpected warm day in February? That surprise frost in May?!

We have a few Vangos in our camper - cheap, comfortable but no use for proper camping!

Personally I think Alpkit describe it best.

If I were looking at camping on the side of a Munro in winter I'd be looking at a 5 season bag

My only hesitation with a down bag is the problems if it gets wet/damp.

The fifth season is Tundra.

Really cant see how you would need a 4-5 season sleeping bag for use in the UK.

Down is a good choice.

Also if you are staying in a tundra enviroment a down filled sleeping mat is a good choice too. (expeds are a good brand)

If a synthetic bag gets wet, you still have to dry it out before you can use it. You really dont want to be sleeping in a wet sleeping bag, I've tried it, its not fun.

And weighs a lot less too. Not an issue for car camping but a real bonus when you're carrying your own kit.
