Hello chaps and chapesses,

My company recently purchased a motorhome (converted VW Crafter) which will be used in conjunction with my business and also for some personal use (to be declared on P11D, of course).

The issue I'm having is that there are very very few companies who are able to quote for this sort of use.

I've had quotes as low as £225 if I owned the vehicle and it was for personal use only, but the best one with the vehicle in the company's name and being used to ferry staff to and from events (including overnight stops) is nearly 15 times that!

I've tried all the usual suspects who claim to be motorhome insurance brokers, but they give a straight 'no' as soon as any sort of business use / ownership is mentioned.

If anyone has any 'specialists' I should try, the leads would be most appreciated.

Cheers!
Adam

Ive got an antiques dealer who bought a van from me who had a nightmare as he was using it for work,he found one in the end paying circa 1.5k i'll find out who he uses tomorrow.
If its a van conversion try looking at it the other way and insure it with a commercial van insurer as a work van with living accomodation?

Thanks for that! It is a conversion - hadn't thought of trying it that way around. I try to do stuff as 'correctly' as possible though and it's pretty obviously not a 'van van' if that makes sense...

I've spent some more time ringing around and managed to get Adrian Flux of all people to propose a really good (compared to the other one) premium of £990, so I have gone with that. It includes cover for all drivers over 25 and 60 days European cover too.

That seems like a great shout to me.
