I know nothing about camping, never been, and will never go. Deficating in a bucket is not my idea of a holiday.

My son however, is going to the Reading festival in August with his mates. He needs a tent they can carry, for 2 or 4, on a limited budget so as cheap as possible without letting in the rain, with an overhang so they can sit outside getting stoned and drunk even when it's pouring.

Any recommendations or special offers on.

Over to you folks, because I know nothing.

There are a few pop up tents at Decathlon that might be suitable, easy to put up and not too expensive.

Definitely the way forward for festival camping.

But if you plan on bringing the tent home again afterwards then practice putting a pop up tent down again before setting off from home!!

Agreed. We use one to stash stuff when campering.and I still haven't quite got the hang of it. Oh and violence doesn't work...

When you're stoned and / or drunk, an overhang to protect you from getting wet will be irrelevant.

Agree that a pop-up tent is the best bet. Small, very light, easy to carry, unbelievably easy to erect, but a sod (if non-versed in the way these things fold down) to put away again.

Quechua are good, in my opinion. Plenty on eBay and cheap enough to throw away afterwards if your son so feels like it.

Or, buy one of these Halfords bargain bucket all-in-one camping deal things which include the sleeping bags and mattresses. If, from what you say, they do indeed imbibe, then the latter two will also probably be irrelevant.
