I have owned a very bulky three season vango hallow fibre sleeping bag for years ,unusable in the summer ,just to hot ..I`m after a something lighter maybe a feather and down one .The only thing what puts me off is i had a down sleeping bag years ago ,i was never warm even in the summer .

I`m not after a top light weight bag but somthing which will keep me warm from May to the end of summer ..preferably with a bit of room..

Thanks

I have an old Snug Pak bag which packs up to the size of a loo roll and a conventional bag.
If I use the Snug pak inside the regular bag, it's very warm.
Between the 2 bags, lots of options.

What down bags have you tried? I've had a Rab 1-2 season bag for years and had no issues even down to sub zero temperatures. I don't feel the cold though, so layering up a fleece liner or (bearing in mind that down is better for overheating than synthetic) getting a 3 season bag might be the way to go.

been using a gelert 3 season bag for years now, in summer I just put a sheet over my mat and use bag as a duvet, in spring/autumn zip myself into bag and winter use bag with liner and good clothes. never change into nightwear in cold weather as you are losing heat. camped in minus 5 in the lakes and was toasty. Main thing IMO is good insulation between you and the ground so in winter it is a roll mat and self inflating mat with a fleece blanket then bag then me
