Is anyone aware of any sleeping bags suitable for the powerfully built (or fatty if you must?)

Im 6 ft 4 and 20 stone and I find any normal sleeping bags I can fit inside are too restrictive and uncomfortable.

Ideally would be 3 season. Reasonable cost isnt a problem though

Love my Marmot sleeping bag. They do big sizes. Tons of room in mine and I'm an inch shorter than you and 18st.

My immediate thought was "well, choose the long option, then".

Had a quick look online and found...that Cotswold list 2 'long' bags, Blacks, none.

Helpful.

So, had a look on the US sites, which do actually give you a sleeping bad chooser:

REI

And you get quite a few results; I suggest you pick one from there, then try to order it from a UK site.

This might fit the bill:

Company directors Sleeping bag

I'd also be tempted by this, more rectangular:

Bag

Finally, going back to the Company Directors sleeping bag above:

Really Powerful Company director Mod

Which should take care of pretty much every circumstance.

Most of the decent manufactures offer different size / length stuff, just factor on waiting for it to be ordered in for you if you're buying from a bricks and mortar outdoor shops as they usually stock a miserable selection.

Costco do an oversized bag, hubby is close to your size and it's the only sleeping bag he finds comfy. They'll only have it in stock in the spring. Can't remember the price but less than 30 I think for a very good bag.

I have a Vango bag sutable for the larger (wide) user.

I am sorry I cannot be more specific without looking in my loft. My wife bought it for me after a camping trip when I couldn't fit in the tapered mummy style bags we had. I think it came from Yeomans and was about £30 of £40.

I use one of these, plenty of room to sleep in whatever way you want, warm, about £35.

Id seen the Gelert Pods but they got mixed reviews and I was looking for something a bit warmer so could extend the season a bit.

I should of thought of looking into our American cousins items, they would probably class me as in need of feeding up. Those Big Agnes bags look perfect.

Thanks all!

Remember to get a sleeping pad as well; the Big Agnes bags (which are nice quality, btw) don't have any insulation on the bottom, just a sleeve for a pad to serve as cushioning and insulation.

Pretty much all of the major bag manufacturers do an extension wedge.

If you want a decent quality bag look at Alpkit. Can't comment on size but they get some rave reviews on walking/camping websites. This is the next thing on my hit list when I've got the money for it:

For the time being though I've got a fleece liner to go with my cheapy Gelert which isn't bad to be fair, and works out less than 1/3 the price.
