Help wanted for Cancer sufferer

Dear All,
Sorry to start the topic with such a subject heading
BUT
It is true.
My sister-in-law started with Kidney cancer a year or so ago but it has metastasized to her spine and she is losing mobility.
She has decided to spend the rest of her life touring the UK with her Hubby in a converted Van and they have asked me to investigate the possibilities of using a Volks T6.1 or Volks T7.
I have been on this site, asking questions of the TVR community, for 20 years and thought that someone on this forum might have some answers.

BUT
my total knowledge is based on the Bedford 35cwt twin-axle of the 70s.
Can anyone offer some guidance on:-
1) What a ood choice would be ?
2) Where she should go to have the base model converted to a tourer ?
Absolutely any help and any (given that it is me, filtering the info) funny/stupid comments are acceptable.

Sorry to hear of your sister-in-laws troubles - fingers crossed for a good outcome or at least time to live out some life goals.
Honestly, if life has got to this point, my best advice would be not to worry about the money too much. Don't entertain the idea of converting anything, just get straight on with the job of buying an appropriate camper 'off-the-shelf' as soon as you can. Then she can get out and use it straight away and starting living her best life.
With regards to which one, find the nearest big campervan dealer with a bunch of VWs in stock and go and try them all. They all have slightly different layouts and features, some of which will work better for some users than others. Nothing beats looking at a bunch of them back to back so you can compare and think about what actually matters to you. I wouldn't worry too much about the mechanical variations, they'll all be adequate for the job - it's the comfort and convenience of living with the camper conversions that's going to make time away enjoyable, so focus on that. Maybe a Grande California which is based on a Crafter if she can afford it? I have had a 2009 T5 based California and they are just so well designed with so many nice touches, but a bit tight inside if going to be living in it full time.Honestly, if life has got to this point, my best advice would be not to worry about the money too much. I agree with Larrylamb, don't sod about go out and buy a comfortable already converted vehicle, could be up and travelling in a few days from now, enjoy the rest of the summer.
I wouldn't fixate on a VW which carries scene tax, instead consider a decent sized proper motorhome that will provide the comfort and roomy in comparison washing/toilet etc facilities that might be needed as time goes by, looked after it will be sellable again when the time comes.
Might even be a bargain or two lurking about as the season draws to a close.
Research the chassis/cowl maker so they don't end up with some bloody awful wet belt engine and the motohome forums for troublesome (ie damp) issues, also be aware of pre euro 6 that might not even be allowed into some cities or at best carries a penalty, also check the weights involved because the driver may require a C1 licence which hopefully already holds but will need an annual medical after 70 (i believe but double check) to carry on the so called grandfather rights.
The C1 situation might work to their advantage because buyers market.
